MICHELLE WONNACOTT

Accredited Instructor with the Australian Pilates Method Association and Fitness NSW
Michelle

Michelle’s interest in body movement began at an early age with her love of Dance. Later Michelle studied at a fulltime Ballet School in Sydney for 2 years completing her Royal Academy Of Dancing examinations. After a few years of travelling and Dancing Professionally, Michelle returned to Australia to train as a Fitness Leader with Fitness N.S.W. Michelle managed the Health Club at Crowne Plaza Terrigal and during which time worked on Aerobics OZ Style as a Fitness Instructor.
Looking for a change of direction, and having a basic knowledge of Pilates through her dance career, Michelle embarked on her Instructor training course at the Pilates Institute, Sydney.

In May 2001 “Michelle’s Pilates Place” opened on the Central Coast, with classes held at North Avoca Surf Club. Pilates was still a new concept on the Central Coast, but gradually classes grew as word spread of the many benefits. In 2002 Michelle studied the Pilates Method at the University Of Technology Sydney over 12 months, receiving High Distinctions in her final exams.

Over the 6 years in Business, Michelle and Simon have been blessed with two beautiful daughters. “Pilates Mum’s and Bub’s” classes evolved after the birth of their first child in 2003 and have continued with great success. Michelle enjoys attending regular workshops and conventions, keeping her up dated with the industry and consistently inspiring and motivating her clients.

SIMON WONNACOTT
Accredited Instructor with Pilates Institute of Australasia
Simon

Simon had a motorcycle accident in 1988 in which he badly fractured his leg. At the time he was serving in the Royal Navy, after a medical discharge he worked as a shipwright and in 1994 emigrated to Australia, where he met Michelle. After a work related injury he started to suffer from reoccurring back pain and turned to Pilates. Attending Michelle’s classes for a year his back pain alleviated, his flexibility, core strength and general wellbeing vastly improved, Simon was inspired to become a Pilates Instructor.

After completing a Fitness Leader course with Fitness N.S.W. Simon continued his training at the Pilates Institute in Sydney and in 2002 became a qualified Pilates Instructor. Simon regularly attends workshops and conventions held by Australian and International Pilates organizations, always looking for new ideas to challenge and motivate his clients.

Although not from a dance background, Simon feels he brings to his classes a relaxed and descriptive teaching style with empathy for those suffering from injury or back pain. With this understanding and his teaching experience, Simon keeps his classes challenging without putting stress on his clients bodies.

If getting in shape is one of your goals, then you should look no further than Michelle's Pilates Place. I have just started my 6th year with Michelle and Simon and I have found their Pilates classes to be so beneficial. Not only do I feel great but my body is stronger, more flexible and my posture has never been better. My breathing and core strength has also improved and I feel so stretched and supple. Unlike other Pilates courses I have attended in the past, I find Michelle and Simon's sessions very personal as the classes are not too large and each student gets individual attention. To top it off, the courses are held at either North Avoca, Avoca or Terrigal Surf Club so you can tone up whilst enjoying the beautiful vista over the beach. So whether you are young or not so young, I would highly recommend Michelle's Pilates Place, as you'll discover a type of exercise that you actually want to do because it makes you feel so great!
